Writer's picture: Ragha Abhinaya MRagha Abhinaya M

This is inspired by Emily Gould. Thanks to her for being excited at what she does! I have something to say - read the following slowly and mindfully, will you?

Today, I noticed how I'm not alone. When watching this video about Emily talking about using journalling to improve our creative writing, I felt liberated. A feeling that had been weighing upon me since quite some time, suddenly lifted off, unveiling a light, feathery acceptance towards my thoughts.

I've always questioned my own ability to write things; forget about beautiful things for now! Successful creatives have pointed out that it's the bad writers who are proud of their work whereas the good ones are seldom satisfied. I agree that they mean it in a sense of striving to be a better version of oneself, but why would I deny myself the pleasure of dwelling in the pride of creating something that's original and entirely 'of my own'?

This may not be the best thing I've written or will write but writing this happens to be one of the best things that occurred today !

Today, I noticed how I get filled with this amazing energy when I decide to be a writer (yes, I'm calling myself one!), when I look at other writers who weave strands of sentences from pearly, glistening beads of words. This exquisite yet serenely simple endeavour of putting together thoughts that make absolute sense to someone who's on the other side of time and space!

Today, I noticed how deeply I'm filled with gratitude because I get to enjoy the little moments of joy so completely. I wish everyone can find something in their own life that may, in no way, be connected to their vocation but be some nook that one can always turn to, for shelter, in any circumstance - be it elation or depression.

Today, I noticed that I love many things and people in life and that I'm simply and presently happy!

This piece of writing is raw and unedited. I hope it put a smile on your face, like it did on mine!
